Bush Barrow Lozenge

The large gold lozenge measures 18 cms by 15 cms and originally lay on the chest of the dead man. It is made of very thin gold sheet, originally mounted over a wooden board and held in place by pins. Its original purpose is uncertain. Guesses have ranged from an elaborate button to a surveying device for planning Stonehenge.

The lozenge is featured on the BBC Wiltshire History of the World top 10 items!
