Facilities

The staff of the Museum and Library have expertise in numerous fields of archaeology, natural and social history. Members of the public are very welcome to come in with enquiries or objects for identification and pick their brains. If the appropriate staff member is not present then any object may be left at the museum. We regret that we cannot offer valuations.

We also have the facility to offer guided tours of the Museum and Library, both during the day and the evening, subject to availability of staff.

The Museum has newly updated toilet, including a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor and baby-chaning facilities.

There are no refreshment facilities at present in the Museum and, indeed, consuming of food and drink in the galleries is prohibited. However, Devizes is fortunately well supplied with places to eat, from sandwich bars and coffee shops to public houses and excellent restaurants.

The Museum has a lecture hall for hire that can seat up to 70 people, with a large projector screen and some capacity to provide tea and coffee. It can be hired for daytime or evening use depending on other bookings and availability of a Keyholder. Charges are (exclusive of VAT) -

For a Charity
£30 for a half day or evening, £60 for a full day.

For a Semi-charity
£50 for a half day or evening, £100 for a full day.

Standard
£60 for a half day, £92 for a full day (up to 5pm), £75 for an evening.

There is an additional £5 charge for provision of tea or coffee and use of kitchen. There is also a £15 charge for the use of digital video projector (slide and overhead projects free with hire fee).
